Surge Staffing is seeking a Purchasing Intern to assist in our ordering and procurement operations. This role will focus on supporting the purchasing team in coordinating incoming deliveries and ensuring efficient inventory management across our branches.

Position Type: Internship (Full-time, Monday - Friday)

Location: Surge Staffing Headquarters, Columbus, OH

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in receiving and offloading delivery trucks
2. Organize incoming deliveries in designated storage areas
3. Assist in reading and interpreting work orders
4. Retrieve merchandise from shelves and storage areas as directed
5. Verify merchandise information against orders
6. Assist in inspecting merchandise for damage or irregularities
7. Support in packing merchandise for delivery
8. Assist in updating the inventory database
9. Adhere to state health and safety regulations
10. Assist in conducting regular inventory checks
11. Communicate with Purchasing Specialist for order coordination
12. Assist in obtaining quotes for branch needs
13. Perform additional tasks as required to ensure efficient inventory management

Requirements:

1. At least a Junior pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in communications, business, supply chain management, or related fields.
2. Basic understanding of warehousing procedures preferred
3. Strong attention to detail
4. Ability to lift heavy objects
5. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
6. Strong customer service skills
